Thanksgiving 2003 - Boston, MA

Thanksgiving - Boston MA

Our trip through downtown Boston started up in Harvard Square. Our hosts - John and Sue live only 5 minutes away in Cambridge. Sue and their 4 year old son dropped us off early in the afternoon. It was raining on and off, although it really wasn’t that cold. After hanging out in the Coop bookstore we hopped on the subway and headed downtown. We wanted to get to the South end because I remembered going into an area about 10 years prior that I thought was neat.

From what I remembered the area had gentrified quite a bit. Most of the old warehouse type buildings had been renovated into upscale loft living. From what I remember 10 years ago it was sort of a bohemian artist’s colony. I think most of the artists currently can no longer afford to live there.

Finally after walking around checking out some of the historical building in central Boston we found a nice Irish pub to enjoy a pint. Of course it took longer then we thought to get back to John and Sue’s in Cambridge, and we were late for dinner. They were good sports. We initially intended on helping with the dinner preparation. As it ended up we basically arrived, sat down and started eating.

Although the trip was short we had a great time and couldn’t of asked for better hosts.
